The Thule 665C Transporter Combi box is now installed and after a quick drive around the neighborhood and I think it’s going to do the trick. Tomorrow first thing I’ll call the dealership and get them back on track chasing down the electrical solution.

Mileage to Date

Speaking of which I’ve pulled the basic mileage information from the Prius since we bought it:

As you can see we’re not getting quite the mileage we were originally hoping for, but it’s a considerable improvement over the Saab (usually about 15 MPG, sometimes more). Pretty keen machine IMHO.

Receiver Hitch on Prius

Lunch time today I spent installing the 1¼ receiver hitch from Coastal E-Tech mounting it to the frame of our new Toyota Prius. It is a pretty straight forward installation and it took me about an hour to get it completed. I plan on starting the installation of the swing arm for the Thule 665C Transporter Combi cargo box later this afternoon. Right now the only part that I don’t have easily available is a standard four plug hitch light assembly that will interface with the Prius. I’ve discussed using a similar hitch part manufactured for the Corolla with the dealership, but they have yet to get back to me with any sort of final solution or recommendation.
